The male thread of the fitting is screwed into the thermowell or bulkhead and the probe is then inserted into the aperture at the top of the fitting to the required length. The outer compression nut is then tightened which forces the olive to compress around the outer sheath of the probe, after which the probe is then held securely in place and a tight seal provided.
